How is Bottega different from Shopify?

Bottega is roughly half the price at every comparable tier, includes more advanced features (rentals, wholesale, RMA) at lower tiers, and runs on open infrastructure (WordPress + Mercato) so you're not locked in. Migration tools coming on Pro+.

What about WooCommerce — isn't that free?

WooCommerce is free to download but requires you to manage hosting, security, backups, and assemble 10+ paid extensions to match Bottega's feature set. Bottega is the assembled, hosted, supported version.

What happens to my store if I downgrade to Free?

Your store keeps running. Above 25 products, only the first 25 stay visible. You can upgrade again any time to re-enable everything.

When should I move to Mercato?

When you want to let other sellers list on your store. Mercato adds vendor onboarding, commissions, payouts via Stripe Connect, and multi-vendor checkout on top of everything Bottega gives you.

Can I sell digital products?

Yes — Bottega handles digital downloads on Pro+ via the same checkout, with license-key delivery and access management.
